Jonathan's First Week
Thu 22-May-2003
Jonathan is now 1 week old. He is truly a remarkable baby, so calm, so serene, so adaptive. His checkup at the doctor yesterday was perfect, and he withstood a few pokes and prods (but thankfully no 'pokes' from a needle) - and he didn't even scream once.
To this day, his older siblings cry louder than a human ear can tolerate each time they go see a doctor, so we're obviously very happy to see Jonathan's calm disposition.
Joshua (almost) Rides a Train!
Sun 18-May-2003
Well, those of you who know Joshua or have heard stories about him already know of his PASSION (or obsession) regarding TRAINS. Well, we happen to have a little train station near our house that conducts a 1-hour train ride all around the city each Sunday afternoon for kids.
Well, daddy finally took Joshua on the train today, and it was a total culmination of all of Joshua's dreams coming true all at once. We got there so early, we were able to explore the train before she disembarked.
Well, right before the train left, Josh realized that mommy wasn't with us, and he totally freaked out. My only guess is that he must've thought that we were going AWAY from home, and never would return.
Trying to reason with him in that state is futile, but I nevertheless gave it my best effort. Unfortunately, it didn't work, and Joshua had to get off the train before it even started moving.
It was truly disappointing for me, to say the least, to see him miss out on such a fun experience. Maybe we'll try again someday...
Jonathan's Arrived!
Thu 15-May-2003
Jonathan Roger was born today! After 10 hours of labor (almost none of which was 'active' or 'pushing'), Jonathan was welcomed into the world at 1:23 pm eastern time.
He had great assessments all around (perfect "9" apgars both times), and he cried almost immediately!
His statistics: 7 lbs 10.5 oz, 20.5 inches long. His size is awful similar to his older brother, Joshua, who was 7 lbs 11 oz and 20 inches long at birth. The two brothers resemble each other in looks, also - with very few features actually being different between the two.
Joshua had 'chubbier cheeks', as well as a much larger forehead (his noggin all the way around is bigger hehehe). But overall, their newborn photos are uncanny in appearance!
Mommy is doing absolutely great, and this birth (other than lasting 10 hours!) was absolutely PERFECT in every way!
Mommy was up for 32 straight hours by the time Jonathan arrived, while daddy at least had had 2 hours of sleep over the previous 38.
False Alarm On Mother's Day
Sun 11-May-2003
Well, we had a false alarm today. Mommy was in regular contractions all throughout the day, as Jonathan tried his hardest to give her the best Mother's Day present possible...

But the contractions were the only thing 'happening' in the process, so they sent us back home and told us to do some heavy walking so lil Jonathan could move down...

Our House Is Taking On Water!!
Sat 10-May-2003
Grrrrr, just in time for Jonathan's birth... Things are going to be cramped around here for the next few weeks as we just lost our guest bedroom in the basement to a water leak. It appears that our basement has been unable to hold out all the water from the massive amounts of rain we've received over the past few weeks . . .

Oh well, it'll get repaired 'whenever we find the time' unfortunately...

He's In Position!
Wed 07-May-2003
Jonathan finally turned head-down, so our c-section that was planned for the 15th has been canceled. Now all we can do is sit and wait . . .
Let the nesting begin!
Sun 04-May-2003
Jonathan is about 2 weeks or so from arriving, and we've been working our lil butts off getting ready for his arrival... He remains 'head-up' right now, so we're hoping he turns around sometime soon, otherwise we might have to deliver him medically instead of naturally :o(
